Tahquamenon Falls, & St. Ignace Car Show

On Friday, enjoy the Soo’s Engineers Day in partnership with the City of Sault Ste. Marie, the US Coast Guard, & the US Army Corps of Engineers! There will be street vendors and area attractions for you to peruse on your own. You will be able to cross the Locks throughout the day’s event at your leisure!


The Kewadin Casino Resort & Hotel will be a great place to relax & unwind, with a pool, whirlpool & sauna, time to dine on your own, & each guest will receive $20 in free play ($10 in the evening & $10 in the morning) if you desire to play.


On Saturday, you’ll get to view Whitefish Scenic Point, Naomikong Overlook, & Point Iroquois Lighthouse, as well as explore Tahquamenon Lower & Upper Falls. The Lower Falls consist of a series of five smaller falls cascading around an island. The Upper Falls are one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi River. It drops nearly 50 feet across a 200 feet span.

Wrap up your time away with an opportunity to see vehicles of all shapes and sizes at the St. Ignace Car Show! The streets bustle with activities from vendors to live music as you stroll through the vintage car contestants.

Rockhound your way around the shorelines of Lake Huron on your way to your destinations and on nearby trails while at your stay. Enjoy stops on the Island such as Drummond Island Resort, Sune’s, the Islander Shoppe, the Historical Museum, Tee-pee’s Ice Creamery, & North Haven Gifts where you can learn how to take pudding stones and turn them into beautiful keepsakes.

Dinner & Breakfast will be at your resort while your included lunch will be at one of the Island’s most popular eateries, Esther’s Mexican Restaurant, where you’ll get to try one of her famous dishes such as beef or chicken taco salad, tacos combo, or the wet burritos-beef, chicken, or vegetarian style. You’ll also enjoy a fun picnic lunch at a St Ignace Port enjoying a deliciously moist pasty from a local St. Ignace bakery.

Tues, Aug 20: Picnic lunch in St. Ignace, travel across the Detour Passage on a ferry boat to the Island, visit North Haven, included dinner at your Drummond Island Resort Hotel, then relax for the evening at your resort or head out for ice cream, your choice!         

Wed, Aug 21: After a relaxing morning and breakfast at your resort, you’ll get to sight see the historical museum, shop nearby shops, eat lunch at Esther’s Mexican Restaurant, do a little rock hunting, and ride the ferry back to the mainland. Stop in St. Ignace for ice cream on the way home because every day is a good day for ice cream.
